Commissioners approve road and bridge contracts, personnel-policy updates and a union contract

Contracts: Dennis, the highway engineer, recommended and the board approved three contract awards: contract 2670 (mill-and-reclaim on County Road 28) to Crane Creek Asphalt for $1,255,550.67; contract 2671 (Jenkins Trail township road resurfacing) to Minnewah Construction Incorporated (low apparent bid $345,779.30); and contract 2672 (township bridge replacement in Richland Township) to Minnewah (low apparent bid approximately $189,995.30). Commissioners noted competitive bidding and township cost-share arrangements for the bridge projects.
Personnel policies: Carrie in Human Resources presented revisions tied to 2025 legislative changes and administrative clarifications: inclement-weather leave guidance (use vacation/sick accruals before unpaid leave), updated meal and rest-period rules to match state statute, reduced the medical-documentation trigger from three to two consecutive absences, and clarified how Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) runs concurrently with paid family and medical leave. The board moved and unanimously approved the policy updates.
Labor contract: The board ratified a 2025''''''''''''2027 union contract for the LELS Jailer Programmers and authorized the chair to sign.
Planning commission hearing: Commissioners approved forwarding proposed subdivision-regulation revisions to the planning commission and set a public hearing and intent-to-adopt for 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 5.
