The council approved a finance-committee recommendation to award the city's property-assessment services contract for valuation years 2026 through 2028 to Associated Appraisal Consultants. City staff said the current assessor contract ends with the 2025 valuation year, and staff solicited proposals; Associated Appraisal's proposal was recommended by the finance committee.
Dean Peters, identified as vice president of operations at Associated Appraisal, described the firm's municipal experience and waterfront valuation work: "We are very experienced with waterfront valuation and condominium valuation," he told the council, citing work on Geneva Lake, Lake Geneva and Door County shoreline communities. Council members asked about the RFP review panel and whether prior assessor repayment issues had been closed out; staff said the RFP evaluation included city finance and clerk staff and that previous contract shortfalls were being addressed in payments spread over time.
Council members said they wanted good communication with constituents and noted that the city had reviewed references. A motion to approve the resolution passed on roll call with all members recorded as "aye." The resolution was listed as 25-R-3304 and staff will finalize contract terms and start the next valuation cycle.
