McKinney honors officers and 911 communications specialist for lifesaving responses

The City of McKinney on Feb. 3 honored a team of police officers and a 911 communications specialist for separate lifesaving actions, Police Chief Ellenberg told the council during a short work session.
Chief Ellenberg said Sergeant Kyle Wilkerson and Officers Mueller, Collard, James and Prigmore (Officer Stuve was unable to attend) responded to a Dec. 16, 2025 call in which bystanders reported seeing a woman with facial injuries. Ellenberg said officers observed a woman on the floor and a suspect holding a pistol; believing a hostage situation was unfolding, they forced entry, conducted a rapid rescue and took the suspect into custody without further incident. "These officers demonstrated extraordinary teamwork and selflessness, placing the well‑being of another above their own," Ellenberg said.
The chief said the suspect was booked on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated kidnapping and the victim was transported to MCM for treatment. The transcript uses the acronym "MCM" for the receiving medical facility; the full facility name is not specified in the record.
Ellenberg also recognized communications specialist Anna Nicole Williams for a Dec. 13, 2025 911 call in which a caller's wife went into immediate labor and the newborn experienced complications, including choking and an umbilical‑cord tear. Ellenberg said Williams stayed calm and followed protocols during a nearly 10‑minute call, coaching the father through steps that helped secure the infant's safety until the fire department arrived. "Anna Nicole's ability to maintain control of the call while providing clear, reassuring guidance was instrumental in the successful outcome," Ellenberg said.
Council members and attendees posed for photos with the honored employees after the presentations. The chair then announced the council would adjourn to an executive session under Texas Government Code section 551.071 and 551.072 and would reconvene for the regular meeting at 6 p.m.
