McKinney preservation board highlights Black History Month event, adjourns after brief meeting

After approving a certificate of appropriateness request, a staff member told the board about a Black History Month event scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. in the Fitzhugh lobby. The event will include a presentation and a moderated panel featuring several people from the original nine of Doty School who helped integrate McKinney ISD.
The staff member also said interpretive panels for the event are in production and have been sent to the printers; the panels had not yet returned at the time of the meeting. The Chair noted City Councilman Rick Franklin was present in the audience but he did not speak on the record.
The meeting lasted nine minutes and adjourned at 5:39 p.m.
