The Waukesha City Board of Public Works on Dec. 4 approved four improvement payments, including a partial payment for a park project and a payment tied to work on the library’s HVAC system.
A committee member questioned whether the payment for the formal‑gardens park project represented final acceptance, noting that it is December and some work remains. “It is not a final payment,” a staff member said, adding that crews expect to carry unfinished curbing and other items into spring because of early winter weather. The staff member said the plan is to complete as much work as feasible now and finish remaining items in spring.
During the same vote, staff said the library HVAC project is on track but that the work has uncovered existing‑condition issues and control‑system items that will likely generate a future change order. “Engineering staff is currently working with the library staff on how to potentially fund some of those additional change order items that will be taken through a future change order here at the Board of Public Works,” the staff member said.
The board moved and approved the set of payments as presented. Names recorded on the vote include members called during roll call, and the chair declared the motion carried. Staff said any additional change‑order requests tied to the library HVAC project will be returned to the board for formal approval once funding and scope are resolved.
The board’s action finalized routine payments but left an open procedural step: staff will return any specific change‑order requests for the library HVAC work with recommended funding options and dollar amounts for the board’s review.
