The Waukesha Common Council on Dec. 2 approved the lists of poll workers and special voting deputies for the 2026–27 cycle. A public commenter had asked the clerk to clarify whether listed districts meant final assignments; staff said the district notes reflect where poll workers prefer to work or have worked in the past and do not represent scheduling.
Council members asked about parity between party-submitted lists; staff explained that nominations reflect who parties submit and that actual scheduling is performed later to ensure partisan balance consistent with state law, with adjustments based on the last election results. One member of the council said she serves as an election official and would abstain from recommending placement.
The motion to approve the submitted nominations as the official list passed with 14 yes votes and one abstention.
