The Waukesha City Ordinance and Licensing Committee voted unanimously Monday to approve extensions of premises and sidewalk-cafe and retail licenses for several businesses, with approvals made subject to notes from city engineering.
The committee met at 6:00 a.m. and, with four of five members present, moved quickly through routine business before turning to licensing items. Chair called the meeting to order and confirmed the committee had a quorum. There was no public comment.
Members considered bartender and business license applications. The Chair said Emily Heinrich had emailed to withdraw her bartender application and the committee agreed to hold another bartender applicant after multiple missed appearances. The Clerk confirmed application materials and prior confirmations were attached to the files.
On business licenses, a committee member moved to approve the following, subject to engineering notes attached to each application: House of Guinness — extension of premises and sidewalk cafe; Idyllic Bubble Tea — sidewalk cafe; Joey's Diner — sidewalk cafe; and Waukesha Old Car Club — special class B retail license. The Chair seconded the motion and the committee voted to approve the items unanimously.
The Chair noted that, as a general condition affecting many sidewalk-cafe approvals, applicants must not anchor tables, chairs or other objects to facilities within the public right of way (including brick pavers) and that the minimum sidewalk width required by city ordinance must be maintained. The Clerk said the clerk's office would ensure engineering comments are communicated to applicants when permits are issued.
Committee members set the next meeting for Monday, Feb. 9, and noted an alternate representative from applicant businesses may appear if the primary applicant cannot attend. With no further communications, the Chair adjourned the meeting at 6:08 a.m.
Actions recorded in the meeting minutes show the motion to approve the licenses passed unanimously; Dean Lemke was recorded as the absent member.
