The Planning & Zoning Commission voted 7–0 on Feb. 24 to recommend rezoning a property at 2906 Woodlawn Road from AG (agricultural) to I‑1 (light industrial), saying the rezoning aligns with the 2040 comprehensive plan’s Oak Hollow District and the surrounding industrial uses.
Planner Jake Bennett presented staff’s recommendation, saying the comp plan identifies the area as suitable for industrial development and that nearby parcels are already zoned for light or heavy industrial uses. Owner Steve Caraway told the commission he has operated a concrete company on the site for more than 30 years and said the rezoning is intended to bring the property into compliance.
With no public comment, a motion to close the public hearing and approve the rezoning carried unanimously; the commission will forward the recommendation to City Council for final action on March 17.
Next steps: City Council will consider the rezoning on March 17; if approved, the property owner and prospective tenants may pursue new certificates of occupancy and permitting as needed.
