The Waukesha Board of Public Works on Feb. 19 approved an easement authorizing Wisconsin Electric Power Company (We Energies) to install above- and below-ground electric facilities across clean water plant property at 600 Century Drive to serve the MVB storage building constructed last year.
Public Works staff said the building was constructed without on-site power and the easement will allow We Energies to run the necessary wiring to the structure. The board approved the easement by voice vote.
In a separate item, staff presented a State Municipal Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation tied to a Highway Safety Improvement Program grant for the Sunset Drive and Guthrie Drive intersection, a location staff said had a recent fatality. The state will fund 90% of the work (state portion $303,295) toward a total project cost of $338,994; design is scheduled to begin in 2029 with construction in 2031. The board approved the agreement and accepted the grant award by voice vote.
Board members briefly recalled temporary, interim safety devices already installed at the intersection and noted the permanent work will follow design and state scheduling. Staff did not report a separate local funding source beyond the standard match requirements in the agreement.
