Staff said prior events have been very successful and described a fee model (about $250 an hour with a $50 setup and transportation fee) that previously produced a roughly $7 per‑vehicle charge; staff recommended increasing that to $10 to ensure costs are covered. Staff introduced Emma Hastings as interim solid waste coordinator and Hastings confirmed she has hosted two prior events.
Board members discussed logistics and whether to combine paper shredding with electronics recycling events; staff and Hastings said combining the two on the same date would overwhelm staff and site capacity and that county residents also attend, which would further increase turnout. A resident suggested spacing events every six months rather than the proposed interval; staff noted county residents are allowed to use the service and the city does not receive county dollars for these events.
A motion to approve the Strongbox contract renewal and schedule the two events was made and carried.
