The Board approved a $17,050 contract change order Feb. 5 to complete carbon monoxide detector replacement and wiring work at the municipal garage.
City staff said four existing CO detectors and their communication wiring were not operating and could not be reused with the new HVAC controller, so the contractor had to run new wiring and add detectors to make the system functional. A staff member summarized, “The total cost of this change order would be $17,050.”
Board members asked whether conduit had been installed or if this was only rewiring; staff said conduit work had been included in the original bid package and the change order was primarily wiring and controller replacement. Members also asked whether the system connects alarms to dispatch; staff said they did not think it was connected to dispatch and would check.
The board made and seconded a motion to approve the change order and voted aye; the motion carried.
