MCDC engineering update: FY25 receipts $3.4M for MEDC and MCDC combined; program on track

Tracy Lund, assistant director of engineering, updated the McKinney Community Development Corporation on the Transportation Infrastructure Initiative and Economic Development Program at the board’s Dec. 18 meeting.

Lund reported that FY25 actual revenue for MEDC and MCDC combined was about $3.4 million (approximately $1.7 million attributed to each corporation), bringing the program total to date to roughly $7.2 million. Staff said they remain on track to meet or exceed an earlier projection of $16 million in revenue for fiscal years 2023 through 2027.

Lund presented a list of roadway and related projects eligible for the initiative — primarily roadway improvement projects intended to promote economic development — and showed a map locating each candidate project. Staff noted a preliminary expectation that near‑term funding could be directed toward a venue project, but emphasized final allocation decisions remain to be determined through the city’s capital planning process.

Board members asked how and when collected funds move into capital accounts; staff explained that after finance closes and audits the most recently completed year, those revenues are transferred into the city’s capital improvement fund for programmed expenditures. Lund said staff would be available to answer follow‑up technical questions and provide more detailed project schedules as allocations are considered.
