Abilene City Council appoints Katie Gore as municipal court judge

Councilman Lynn Beard announced the appointment, saying, "I'm appointing Katie Gore as the new municipal court judge." The council had recessed into executive session at 8:31 a.m. under the Open Meetings Act, section 551.074, to interview candidates for the municipal court judge position and returned to open session at 10:24 a.m.; the chair said no votes or actions were taken during the executive session.
The chair opened a public hearing on the appointment and asked whether anyone wished to speak for or against the item; no members of the public came forward and the chair closed the hearing. Councilman Reagan moved to approve the appointment; Councilman Reagan said, "So moved." Councilman Lynn Beard seconded. After the vote Councilman Beard stated, "All yeses, motion carries," and the chair confirmed the motion carried.
The chair congratulated Katie Gore and said the council looked forward to working with her in Abilene. The meeting was adjourned at 10:25 a.m.
