Claremont pulls speed‑survey item after staff report was published incomplete; staff briefs commission on paving, drainage and crosswalk work

Staff told the Traffic and Transportation Commission that the agenda item for the Claremont speed survey had to be pulled because the staff report was incomplete and missing attachments. “The staff report is very large [and] missing a couple of attachments,” a staff member said; staff apologized and said the item will be brought back at a future meeting when complete.
Staff then gave a series of operational updates. A staff member reported that paving under the I‑10 overpass on Indian Hill Boulevard between San Jose and American has been completed and that a follow‑up striping and signage project will be undertaken to better identify freeway lane assignments, subject to Caltrans permits. Associate Engineer Vince Ramos said that a future reconstruction connected to the City Ventures housing development will include a rock monument sign similar to the town’s Foothill Boulevard entrance and described planned intersection and landscaping work tied to that project.
Commissioners raised maintenance concerns: faded crosswalk markings on 6th Street following utility work and localized ponding at a wheelchair ramp near Towne Boulevard were reported. Ramos said staff will request the contractor to correct pavement restoration where work fell short and will arrange repainting and additional maintenance as needed. Staff also said a drainage project to add storm facilities will go out to bid in the coming months to address clogged surface drains along portions of Foothill Boulevard.
What’s next: Staff will return the speed‑survey item at a later meeting with a complete packet. Staff also plans a follow‑up construction and drainage update at the next monthly meeting.
