City manager: hawk signal cleared for Massas Drive; light parade timing constrained by band availability

During the city manager’s report on Feb. 17, the city manager said administrative hurdles have been cleared to install a pedestrian-activated traffic signal (hawk signal) on Massas Drive but noted construction timing depends on the construction season.
"I think we finally jumped over all the hurdles necessary to get the hawk signal install installed outside on Massas Drive," the city manager said, adding that work would not happen immediately because it is not construction season.
The city manager also said the Light Parade will need to be scheduled on the same day as the Manassas parade because local bands are occupied with regional competitions on other dates. "We don't want somebody else's band," the manager said, explaining the scheduling constraint.
The governing body recorded the report, had no follow-up questions, set the next meeting for March 3, and then moved to adjourn.
