Manassas Park declares March 2026 Kurdish Heritage Month and honors Karen Miller

Reading the proclamation, the chair said the city "hereby expresses its solidarity with the Kurdish people in Syria and affirms its support for their safety, human rights, and legitimate aspirations for dignity, equality, and security." The motion to adopt the proclamation passed by voice vote.
Later in the meeting Vice Mayor Moore presented a separate proclamation honoring Karen Miller for her leadership with the Blooms Crossing Homeowners Association and her volunteer work with local schools and youth programs. The governing body adopted the proclamation and invited Miller and her family to accept it. Karen Miller thanked the governing body and said she and her family appreciated the community's support and would miss Manassas Park as they move to a new home.
Both proclamations were adopted by voice vote during the recognitions portion of the Feb. 17 meeting.
