"The software was confused by the prior dates," planning staff said, arguing the shift will reduce false compliance flags and simplify administration.
The planning commission had held a public hearing and recommended the edits; county planning staff reported no members of the public attended or offered testimony at the county hearing. The amendments also strike a clause that had barred enforcement based solely on advertising, a provision planning staff said was removed because the corresponding state statute changed.
Chair (speaker 1) called for the motion to approve the ordinance and the commission voted in favor by voice vote. The county clerk was asked to file a clean copy of Order O-26-1 and to post the update to the county website.
What happens next: County staff will publish the amended ordinance and update licensing processes to align software and renewal deadlines. No appeal or further procedural steps were announced during the meeting.
