A mid-December workshop (Dec. 17) will present project cost estimates and the town’s financing options, including county contributions and whether existing revenue (municipal service district funds or townwide taxes) would cover repayment. Staff said the town has a beach nourishment capital reserve and expects to present a contract to the board in January for construction, along with an interlocal agreement with Dare County if the board moves forward.
Town staff cautioned that actual project costs will not be known until bids are returned; depending on results, the board may need to consider financing choices and timing for tax-rate decisions.
