Council approves 2025 arterial street maintenance contract with Texas Materials

Staff presented the 2025 arterial street maintenance program and recommended awarding the contract to the lowest bidder for work on selected arterial roadways. In public remarks Brian (engineering/presenting staff) said the city received four bids that ranged from about $2.9 million to $4.2 million and recommended approving the contract with Texas Materials.
"We had 4 bids for this project. They ranged from 2,900,000 to 4,200,000," Brian said during his presentation. He noted the city has worked with the recommended contractor previously and recommended awarding the contract to Texas Materials.
Councilmember Ortega moved to adopt the resolution authorizing the mayor to execute the agreement; Councilmember Lee seconded the motion. The council polled and voted unanimously to approve the contract.
The presentation framed the program as an ongoing maintenance effort that selects streets based on pavement condition; staff said the map shown in the presentation identified which arterials will be included in this year's work. The contract amount and schedule were presented in staff materials; council did not ask for additional hearing on the award at this meeting.
