New trustees sworn in as Glendora Unified reorganizes officers and committee assignments

The Glendora Unified School District swore in two new board members and reorganized its officers and committee assignments during the board'9s Dec. 9 meeting.

At the start of the organizational portion, each new member repeated the oath of office administered by the board chair. One trustee identified himself on the oath as "Daniel Cam" and another as "Michael Munoz." Both offered brief remarks thanking supporters and family members after taking the oath.

Board members then nominated and confirmed officers for the coming year. Gary Clifford was re-nominated to serve another term as board president and was affirmed by voice vote. The board also confirmed Paul Lopez as vice president and Dr. Daniel (sworn-in trustee) as clerk; those officer votes were carried by voice vote with no recorded opposition.

The board approved a slate of appointments assigning trustees as representatives to external committees and district-related organizations, including Los Angeles County school committees, the Glendora Education Foundation, the Glendora PTA Council, the coordinated school health committee and a San Gabriel Valley ROP representative. Trustees said those appointments are part of normal governance and allow the district to maintain representation on regional education bodies.

After completing the organizational items, the board took a short 3- to 5-minute recess for new trustees to greet family members and for photos, then moved on to recognitions and the regular agenda.

What happens next: The reorganized board will begin its duties immediately and will return at its next scheduled meeting for regular business and follow-up items.
