Council directs staff to work with VoicesJH and include youth in sister-city working group

The council unanimously approved motions directing staff to collaborate with VoicesJH to establish a working group focused on the town's sister-city relationship and to include youth participation.
Susan Scarlata, director of external affairs, told council that staff now recommends working with VoicesJH to create and steward a working group to determine goals and next steps for the sister-city relationship and to help educate VoicesJH's network about local government. "Voices can help the town continue to welcome people of varied backgrounds into local government and learn about town services and initiatives," Scarlata said.
Councilors supported youth representation and broader stakeholder involvement; motions approved included directing staff to work with VoicesJH to establish the working group, include youth members, and to help educate VoicesJH's Eastern European and Latine networks about local government and bring members to council meetings and chats. Each motion passed unanimously.
