The City Council approved a resolution authorizing in‑kind contributions for the 2026 World Bipolar Day event consistent with prior year overtime support and formally adding the event to the city’s list of supported community events. City Manager Mr. Halbert explained the request, noting there are sufficient funds in the community promotion budget: "So tonight we're asking for up to $3,000 in total expenditures on the event," he said. Mayor Pro Tem Reina recused herself from the item and left the chamber because of a personal involvement in the project.
Councilmember Medina asked whether the city would continue to support recurring events and whether the budget process could identify which events to prioritize. Mr. Halbert said the budget and strategic meetings would be the appropriate venues to set ongoing priorities. Councilmember Medina then moved to adopt the resolution; Councilmember Raya seconded. The clerk recorded the vote as approved (three ayes) with Councilmember Martinez and Mayor Pro Tem Reina absent/recused.
