The DeSoto Planning and Zoning Commission began its meeting by swearing in a newly appointed commissioner and later introduced a new city planner.
City staff administered the oath to Mark Jones, who was welcomed by the chair as the commission’s newest member. Following the oath and administrative formalities, Chair Brooks invited the commission to proceed with the agenda.
Later in the meeting Cambria Jordan introduced Rishti Patel as the city planner who joined the planning staff. "So my name is Rishti Patel, and I have my background in urban planning as well as city design," Patel said, adding she comes to the city from the private sector and is excited to work with a government body for the first time.
The commission noted staffing progress in development services and thanked city staff for their work; the meeting then proceeded to public hearings and other agenda items before adjourning.
