The presenter said the district will operate legacy circuits concurrently for a short verification window before disconnecting them to ensure a clean migration. "Once we can fully... migrate to ESINet, we will select the admin lines... we've also ported them over to a new system that's based on fiber, not copper," the presenter said, and added that administrative line costs could fall from roughly $12,000 per month to about $1,500 per month after migration.
Staff cautioned that final savings depend on the timing of point‑to‑point installations and full go‑lives across both PSAPs; the district will continue to pay duplicate services for a brief overlap period to verify operations before disconnecting legacy services. Switchover experiences in Taylor County were expected to inform remaining dates and procedures for the Abilene PSAP.
