Jackson council finds statutory conditions met and directs staff to proceed with Forest Service Nelson Drive annexation

Public comment included neighborhood concerns about utilities and road safety (Mike McDonald requested future conversation about utility upgrades and suggested traffic calming measures), and an objection to annexing federal forest land to enable development (Jud Grossman) with a request to limit lighting and preserve dark skies. Councilors emphasized the procedural distinction between annexation (a jurisdictional boundary decision) and future development proposals, and asked staff to keep the topics distinct.
After deliberation, a motion to direct staff to proceed with the requested annexation (finding that statutory conditions exist and required procedures were met) carried by voice vote.
