Board approves amendment allowing on‑site wells for small Custer Lane condominium project

Trustee Paul Tada moved the ordinance and explained the amendment responds to the fact that the parcel was not included in the City of Milwaukee's service area. Village Manager Mark Fitzgerald said the site is at a dead end and the developer opted to pursue on‑site wells; the amendment allows up to 10 wells though the developer does not expect to use that many for a 10‑unit project. Fitzgerald added the units will connect to city sewer, so no private drainfields are planned.
The amendment passed unanimously; Trustee Tyler recused himself from the related prior planning commission discussion but returned for the board's vote.
Next steps: the developer may proceed under the amended PRD and the village will monitor any future requests to extend municipal water service if Milwaukee's maps change.
