Board accepts Art Guild donation, approves event permits and appointments; cancels Dec. 15 meeting and moves to closed session on police contract talks

At its Dec. 1 meeting the Menomonee Falls Village Board accepted a donation from the Art Guild, approved a consent agenda of permits and appointments, cancelled the Dec. 15 board meeting and voted to convene in closed session to discuss collective bargaining strategy with the police union.
Art Guild presentation: Beth Saunders, Art Guild president, described the Guild’s work and the donated piece. “So my name is Beth Saunders. I am with Art Guild,” she said, explaining the group’s collaborative project and noting about 24 artists combined to produce the 2025 piece that will hang at the entrance to the board room. President Jeremy Walls thanked the group: “It’s amazing how many talented local artists that we have in our village and around surrounding communities.”
Consent agenda and permits: The consent agenda approved included an application for an unenclosed premise permit for American Legion Post No. 382 (Back parking lot including Hansen Soft Water parking lot, portion of Church Street and Centennial Plaza) and an application for an unenclosed premise permit for Menomonee Falls for a portion of the Millpond Park parking lot (W164 N9021 Water Street), both for Dec. 13, 2025 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., subject to police and planning approval. The consent agenda also included appointment of election inspectors for 2026–2027. Trustees approved the consent agenda unanimously.
Meeting schedule and closed session: Trustee Katie Kress moved to cancel the regular Village Board meeting scheduled for Dec. 15, 2025 due to the Christmas holiday; the motion passed unanimously. Later in the agenda Trustee Matt Hayes moved to convene in closed session under Wisconsin Statutes 19.85(1)(e) to discuss negotiation strategy for a collective bargaining agreement with the Menomonee Falls Police Association Local 313; the board voted to enter closed session unanimously.
What this means: The permits approved through the consent agenda are subject to police and planning approval as noted. The closed-session vote ends the public portion of the meeting; the board recorded the motion’s statutory basis as Wis. Stat. 19.85(1)(e) and moved into closed session to discuss labor negotiation strategy.
