Residents urge parade safety enforcement and winter clearing for Rotary Park bike path

Dave Pauley of New Berlin urged the village and parade organizers to adopt and enforce stronger measures to stop throwing candy from floats and vehicles. "The throwing of candy and small children running out to retrieve it is an accident waiting to happen," Pauley said, warning that a serious injury could result and urging the village to enact and enforce a safer policy rather than rely on printed rules on sign-up forms.
Joseph Rebholtz, who lives on McArthur Drive in Menomonee Falls, asked the village or parks department to clear snow from a roughly one-mile stretch of the bike path along the Menomonee River from Pilgrim Road to Lily Road in Rotary Park. He said the compacted snow and ice create hazardous walking conditions for daily users and that nearby stretches are cleared, so he asked whether the village could make this section part of regular winter maintenance.
Village staff acknowledged the requests; no immediate action was taken at the meeting other than to note the comments and direct relevant departments to consider the requests.
