Missouri City council approves parks-board size reduction and two golf-club contracts

At its Feb. 23 special meeting, the Missouri City Council approved several routine action items, including an ordinance to reduce the Parks and Recreation Board from 11 to 9 members and authorizations for two contracts related to Kawai Valley Golf Club.
Shashi Kumar presented the ordinance for second and final reading amending Chapter 74 (Parks and Recreation). The motion, moved by Mayor Pro Tem Clauser and seconded by Councilmember Oderkirk, carried unanimously.
The council also authorized the city manager to negotiate and execute a contract with Corporate Outfitters for bar and restaurant furniture at Kawai Valley in the amount of $88,593.27 and a separate contract with Edward Don (a Cisco company) for remodel and expansion work in the amount of $100,437.42. Staff said both items were previously budgeted and the combined spend is within the authorized amount for those clubhouse projects.
All motions on these consent/contract items were approved unanimously; staff said work will proceed under existing budget authorizations to avoid delaying the clubhouse opening.
