Glendora Unified trustees honored as board completes routine business

The Glendora Unified School District Board of Education opened its meeting with public comment recognizing two outgoing trustees and proceeded through routine reports and a unanimous consent calendar vote.

Daniel Boyer, president of the Glendora Education Foundation, addressed the board and praised Trustees Elizabeth Reuter and Robin Merkley for their service, saying the trustees “have not only shaped our schools but also left a meaningful impact on our students.” Aaron Ralph of the foundation echoed that thanks. Doug Grandquist, president of the Glendora Teachers Association, also thanked the trustees for their dedication on behalf of educators.

Student board member Liliana, a junior at Glendora High School, reported on recent school activities across the district, including classroom performances, PTA events, a chess club launch, and more than 100 cereal boxes collected during a Halloween parade. Superintendent Dr. DeGrazia updated the board on district peer visits, a positive site review at Whitcomb (a recommendation to be named a model continuation high school is pending official notification), recent media features for Glendora High School, and the band’s first-place finish at a Riverside competition.

Board members took turns offering remarks of appreciation. Trustee Robin Merkley reflected on nine years of service and longtime volunteer work with local PTAs; Elizabeth Reuter reflected on her years serving since 2018 and thanked staff and the community. The board then approved the consent calendar (items 6.1–9.3) by unanimous voice vote and adjourned at 7:48 p.m.

The meeting included a brief report out of closed session that the board approved a $605,000 workers’ compensation settlement (employee case GLUS016849), which is covered in a separate disclosure.
