Superintendent announces Aug. 14 start, federal funds released; board approves consent calendar

"We received great news from the federal government through the state as well that the federal funds that had been held, have been released, and that's big support to our English language learners and our professional learning for staff," Dr. DeGrazio said. He also announced a backpack and school-supplies giveaway and a shoes distribution event through a local partnership set for July 30 at the Williams Educational Center.
At the meeting's close the board approved the consent calendar (items 7.1 through 10.3) on a single motion, reported as passing 4-0.
During public comment, resident Mike Baron praised staff for adding explanatory comments to LCFF materials that make charts and the funding formula clearer for residents, and publicly thanked Trustee Garcia for a thoughtful email response.
