The Glendora Unified School District Board of Education approved a three-year joint-use lease with the Glendora Bulldogs that will allow the youth club to lease roughly 4.2 acres of athletic fields at Sutherland Elementary (1330 Amelia Ave) starting Aug. 1, 2025.
"The agreement allows the Bulldogs to lease approximately 4.2 acres of athletic fields at Sutherland Elementary Schools for 3 years starting 08/01/2025. They will be responsible for routine maintenance and they may make district improvements at their own expense with approval from the district," Jeanette told the board, recommending approval and saying the agreement will not interfere with school programs or compromise student safety.
Trustees praised staff diligence in negotiating the agreement and noted many Bulldogs players are district students. "I have full faith that you guys have done the work in ensuring that the district is protected," one trustee said. The motion to approve the joint-use MOU passed 4-0.
District staff said the partnership supports youth recreation while complying with district policies and state law; routine maintenance responsibilities and the district's approval of any improvements were emphasized in discussion.
