Board repeals obsolete theater-license provision from municipal code

The Menomonee Falls Village Board approved an ordinance on July 7 repealing Article 3 of Chapter 10 of the municipal code, eliminating the village’s theater-license requirement.
A trustee introduced the ordinance and proposed an amendment to remove a confusing typographical phrase in a whereas clause (removing the words “and Village staff”). The board voted to amend the ordinance and then voted to approve the ordinance as amended; both votes passed unanimously.
The trustee who handled the item said the ordinance dated prior to 1963 and that many of its provisions are already covered by the village’s building operations and zoning codes and by state statutes, making the licensing requirement unnecessary. The meeting record shows the change was procedural and intended to remove redundant regulation.
The board also announced a short recess and that a special Village Board meeting would follow immediately after the break.
