The Southampton County Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of a rezoning request from Robert T. Parker to change 3.9 acres from M‑1 (limited industrial) to A‑1 (agricultural) to permit construction of a primary residence.
Parker, who identified his address in Southampton Parkway, told the commission the parcel nearest Old Cart Road is an open field suitable for a home site; the adjacent parcel with the existing processing building will remain M‑1. Planning staff listed no weaknesses for the application and the commission moved and seconded approval without opposition.
Staff will forward the commission’s recommendation and materials to the Board of Supervisors for final action.
