Bill reduces nomination requirement for two organizational seats on Geographic Information Advisory Council

Representative Kevin Jackson introduced House Bill 731, which would remedy what he described as "a simple disparity among gubernatorial appointees to the Geographic Information Advisory Council." Jackson said the council — created in 1994 with 25 members — includes 10 members from groups or organizations, and that two named organizations were required to submit six nominations while others submit three. "So all we're doing is striking 6 and making it 3 for [those organizations]," he said. Jackson told the committee that the Kentucky League of Cities supported the bill and had tried to file similar language previously, and he asked members to support the measure.
The committee took a motion and second, had one question from Representative Chester Burton about whether the Kentucky League of Cities had been heard from, and then voted to report the bill to the House floor with favorable expression. No amendments were recorded in committee.
The bill will proceed to the full House for further consideration.
