A representative of the Claremont Helen Renwick Library told the Community and Human Services Commission that the library will be closed for systemwide staff development tomorrow and will resume normal hours at 10 a.m. Friday, March 6, then reviewed a packed slate of March programs.
Library staff highlighted an adult book club at 10:30 a.m. March 6 featuring the book Perestroika in Paris, weekly story times for children and babies, naloxone clinics, and multiple teen and adult craft and program offerings. For children, the library will hold a "Women in Flight" program on Wednesday, March 11 from 3 to 4 p.m. (intended for ages 5–12), an author visit tied to the book Auto Normals Monsterton, and a bubble demonstration event on March 18 for ages 5–12. The library also plans an adopt-a-plant event for adults March 21 and a community "One Book" talk on March 21 at 2 p.m. at the Alexander Hughes Center; Georgian Irvine, publishing director of the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, will speak in lieu of the originally invited author.
Library staff estimated teen programs often draw 10–20 participants, adult classes 15–20 depending on supplies and capacity, and children's programs may reach room capacity (the meeting room seats 67). Residents were invited to register online for events.
