A presenter for the Springfield Economic Development Agency told the board that a community meeting about the Glenwood master plan drew steady, at times crowded, attendance and wide participation from residents and business owners.
"There was a very steady attendance for the entirety of the night, and at times, the event was very crowded," the presenter said, describing the Feb. 19 meeting at Roaring Rapids. She said attendees included Glenwood residents, business owners and students and that SITA’s master planning team, subconsultants and master developers attended to answer questions.
The presentation noted the meeting’s purpose was to give residents an opportunity to ask questions and learn where SITA is in the master-plan process. Staff also said the buyer and project partners fielded lists of questions from attendees and that the outreach aimed to inform and excite the community.
Board member Rodley thanked staff for the outreach, saying the event appeared to have inspired attendees and drew press attention. Other board members expressed appreciation for the outreach to the Glenwood community and surrounding neighborhoods.
No formal action was taken on the Glenwood master plan at the meeting; the board heard the update and concluded the item.
