Council approves a set of committee recommendations including appointments, licenses and a DNR funding agreement

The Manitowoc Common Council approved a suite of routine committee recommendations and appointments during its September meeting, voting unanimously on several items after committee reports.
Among the actions the council adopted: the appointment of Amy Townsend to the Industrial Development Corporation (term expiring 06/01/2026); reappointment of Dan Horning to the MPU Commission for a five-year term; two-year operator licenses for Jay Ghosh and Jay Johnston; a temporary extension of premises for Pet Skull Brewing’s Oktoberfest event scheduled for Sept. 21, 2024; and adoption of a Department of Natural Resources principal-forgiven assistance agreement resolution.
The council approved the consent agenda without removal of any items. Finance and committee chairs presented each report and the motions were moved, seconded and carried unanimously. Council President Bill Schley and Mayor Justin Nichols presided over votes and proceedings.
The approvals included a city commitment not to exceed $82,500 as a 25% local match for a BRIC grant to construct a dry retention basin at Rubik Field (document 18-01), which the finance committee also recommended. Multiple committee chairs announced upcoming committee meeting dates for further follow-up on these matters.
