CFO Jeffrey Van Goghten said Nova Environmental recommended Environmental Maintenance Engineers at a base bid of $99,500 to remove limited flooring, caulking and specified doors that still contain asbestos; administration described the work as planned summer work and emphasized this was a first read, not a request for final approval.
Technology lead Scott Endicott presented the e‑rate firewall renewal as a one‑year licensing and support agreement totaling $59,381.94, with expected e‑rate eligibility of about 29% (an estimated rebate just over $17,000). Endicott said the renewal includes next‑business‑day replacement support and is necessary to remain in compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and to manage content filtering for district devices.
Board members asked clarifying questions about why asbestos removal is staged and about contract longevity for firewall support; administration said asbestos is removed when it is disturbed by construction and the RFP for firewalls was written as a one‑year term with a future evaluation on whether to buy new hardware.
