Board approves $1.02 million concrete contract for White Lake Middle School

CFO Jeffrey Van Goghten explained the district rebid the concrete package after some initial bidders omitted key scope; administration recommended awarding to McCarthy with a 15% contingency and typical 2.5% general conditions for a total of approximately $1,016,454. In introducing the motion, board member Mister Wiseman moved approval; Miss Ryan provided support. The board opened discussion on McCarthy’s past performance and, after questions were answered, took a roll call vote that approved the award.
Board materials and committee discussion noted that unknowns at the White Lake site (work “on top of the existing structure”) justified the additional contingency. Administration said final construction timing and related bid packages for the new middle school remain on the timeline for April–May approvals and spring construction starts.
