During the public‑comment period, resident Dave Dorsch told the council he has lived in the area for about 51 years and urged the city to sell a vacant house it owns at 4704 Calvert Road, which he said has been empty six to eight months and estimated its value between $650,000 and $750,000. "The city does not need to be owning these houses like this," Dorsch told the council, urging sale proceeds be returned to city coffers or used to reduce taxes.
Later in public comment, resident Avi Polir raised concerns about a Flock Safety camera installed near a Home Depot outside the city and said such automated license‑plate readers operate as data brokers, collecting vehicle and pedestrian information that can be sold or shared with public‑safety partners. Polir cited reported incidents elsewhere where misreads led to police confrontations and asked the council to consider privacy implications.
City staff did not announce immediate action on either item during the meeting; councilmembers and staff noted other priorities and upcoming work sessions on related public‑safety camera programs.
