In a prepared proclamation read aloud at the ceremony, Hewson cited the state’s interest in sustaining general aviation, aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educational institutions and airport operations, and called on San Marcos residents to remember the sector’s contributions to the local and Texas economy.
A representative who spoke after the proclamation thanked the city and council for entrusting the airport to a private operator about 15 years ago and described the airport as the company’s flagship. The speaker said San Marcos’ council “never turned down any request we’ve had” and expressed appreciation for ongoing support.
Hewson closed the proclamation segment by thanking airport staff and operators for their work and asking residents to acknowledge the airport’s strategic and economic contributions to the community.
