San Marcos council convenes closed session on wholesale power agreement with LCRA; no public details released

At 3:55 p.m. on March 3, the San Marcos City Council voted to go into executive session under Texas Government Code §551.086 to deliberate regarding and consider approval of an amendment to the wholesale power agreement with the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA).
Miss Rodriguez moved to convene the executive session and Mister Mendoza seconded the motion. The clerk announced the motion passed 7 to 0 and the council recessed for closed-door deliberations. Council returned from executive session at 4:29 p.m.
After the session, staff and counsel said they could not disclose the substance of the discussion because it involved confidential, competitive power-purchase matters. "The concept of data centers or discussion of data centers was not even mentioned or part of the discussion," said the city representative who addressed the floor, noting the matter focused on the wholesale power agreement and related confidentiality obligations.
No formal public action on the wholesale power agreement was announced at the March 3 work session. The council adjourned the meeting at 4:36 p.m.
