Earhart said HB 185 would create two separate licenses — for licensed dietitians and for licensed nutritionists — distinguishing those treating medical conditions from those providing general health or wellness advice. The bill would also permit Georgia to enter a dietitian licensure compact and would update and expand the Georgia Board of Examiners that oversees these licenses.
The sponsor summarized the intent as increasing access to "safe, high quality nutrition care" and stood for questions. Committee members did not object; HB 185 was included in the package moved to the floor by the committee's unanimous voice vote.
