Council funds community recycling and shred event; chamber thanks the city

The Orange Beach City Council on Jan. 6 approved a $3,000 payment to the Alabama Business Chamber to support its annual electronics recycling and paper-shred event.
Greg Alexander of the Alabama Business Chamber addressed the council and thanked the city for its support; he said the event runs from 8 a.m. to noon at the Gulf State Park Pavilion, will accept up to 50 pounds of paper shred per car and unlimited electronics, and that about 20 Orange Beach High School junior leadership students will help at the event.
Council adopted the resolution by motion and voice vote; no objections were recorded. City staff and council members reminded residents that certain items—such as CRT televisions—are not accepted at the event.
The authorization supports a recurring community service event and underscores the council’s partnership with local business and volunteer groups.
