Rowlett honors Fire Chief Tim Gauthier with proclamation and state flag

Mayor Jeff Winget presented a proclamation Tuesday recognizing Fire Chief Tim Gauthier for more than 27 years with the Rowlett Fire Department and congratulated him on his retirement. The proclamation notes Chief Gauthier began service July 20, 1998, served in every rank and was selected fire chief on June 21, 2024.
State Representative Retta Bowers presented a flag that had been flown over the Texas Capitol and a certificate from the state in honor of Chief Gauthier’s retirement. "This flag was flown over the state capitol in Austin, Texas this February 2026," Bowers said as she handed the framed flag to the chief.
Chief Gauthier thanked the council, City Manager David Hall and the men and women of the Rowlett Fire Department. "This community, this department and this city will always be family," he said, adding he plans to remain available to help the department after stepping down.
Councilmembers and dozens of department members gathered at the front of the chamber for photos. The ceremony closed with the council's formal proclamation extending appreciation for Chief Gauthier’s leadership and wishing him and his family well in retirement.
