Board authorizes EMS billing portal signature; EMS staff to instruct at resuscitation academy

Grand County approved authorization for the chair to sign the PayGround customer agreement (a patient payment portal used with ZOLL billing) via DocuSign and to wet‑sign the related software addendum, Grand County EMS Chief Austin Wingate said during the Jan. 27 meeting.
Wingate explained the PayGround portal will allow patients to access bills, set up payment plans and manage accounts online; the portal’s cost is included in the ZOLL contract but required additional vendor due diligence, routing and contract verification. A commissioner moved to authorize the chair to sign both documents (DocuSign for the agreement and ink signature for the addendum), and the motion passed.
Wingate also reported that several EMS staff will attend and instruct at a Resuscitation Academy hosted in Colorado (bringing students from internationally). He described plans to bulk‑purchase AEDs this year to replace units that are near end‑of‑life and said the county has worked with business owners and community groups to improve AED coverage. He characterized the county’s approach as creative procurement and outreach rather than relying on a single grant program that has lapsed.
