Commission reappoints advisory-board members and accepts September treasurer's report

Gallatin County commissioners on Nov. 25 approved appointments to three advisory bodies and accepted the county treasurer's September 2025 report.
The commission reappointed Dustin Lenzing to the 9-1-1 advisory board for a two-year term, appointed Colin Kiewat as the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office representative to the DUI Task Force for the remainder of a three-year term, and reappointed Lori Christiansen as the public health representative to the Mental Health Local Advisory Council for a four-year term. A commissioner moved the slate and the panel approved the appointments by voice vote.
Treasurer Maureen Horton submitted the September treasurer's report and highlighted operational items: motor vehicle services processed more than 8,825 transactions in September, and the office expects to fill two vacant motor vehicle positions soon. Horton said front-end scanning and a new program to pre-load paperwork have reduced wait times and that one staff member is currently dedicated to phones and email; she said additional training is needed to reopen the information window fully.
Commissioners asked whether the office was still using a scheduling program; Horton said the office has not been operating scheduled appointments for some time because of staffing constraints. The commission voted to accept the treasurer's report.
The meeting then proceeded to the final agenda item: a resolution of intent regarding election administration (see separate report).
