Glendora Unified board welcomes three administrators promoted from within district

At its Aug. 12 meeting, the Glendora Unified School District board introduced and welcomed Kristen Martinez (assistant principal, Goddard Middle School), Nicole Cook (principal, Stanton Elementary) and Marlene Gomez (director of child development programs); each spoke about their ties to the community and plans for the year.
The Glendora Unified School District board on Aug. 12 recognized three administrators promoted or hired from within the district and heard brief remarks from each about their priorities for the school year.
Dr. Osborne introduced Kristen Martinez as assistant principal at Goddard Middle School, saying she was chosen after multiple interview rounds and has 17 years of middle‑school mathematics teaching experience at Goddard and Sandburg and additional experience in Rancho Cucamonga. "I am a product of Glendora Unified," Martinez said, adding that her children attend district schools and that she is "very honored to be part of the school district."
Dr. Osborne also announced Nicole Cook as principal of Stanton Elementary School, noting Cook has more than two decades in elementary education and recently served as assistant principal at a large Title I school. Cook told the board she looks forward to a "wonderful school year" and invited community members to visit the campus.
Marlene Gomez was introduced as the district's new director of child development programs; Dr. Osborne said Gomez has served as a preschool teacher, site supervisor and as CSEA president. Gomez, who identified herself as an alumna of the district, said she is "very proud to be here" and intends to focus on inclusivity and enrichment for children from transitional kindergarten through eighth grade.
Board members and the superintendent framed the appointments as part of the district's leadership continuity heading into the 2024–25 school year. Vice President Garcia and others praised the Glendora Gives Resource Center and community support for back‑to‑school efforts; Garcia noted the district distributed close to 500 backpacks through that program. The board also announced a STEAM lab ribbon cutting for elementary schools planned for Aug. 22.
The recognition portion of the meeting preceded routine reports and votes on personnel and consent items. The meeting adjourned at about 7:32 p.m.
