Dylan Duque, Southlake's economic development and tourism manager, told the council the city will relaunch its Southlake Open Rewards cashback program on Feb. 1 to encourage post-holiday spending at local businesses.
The program, in its third year, will offer a 5% cashback incentive across shopping, dining and entertainment. Duque said about 365 local businesses are participating this year and described a new points system in the user interface: 100 points equal $1 in cash value. The program will be delivered through a mobile app called Open Rewards and staff plan a marketing push in the weeks before launch.
“We launched this in FY23 to help with sales tax revenue,” Duque said, noting the program is intended to boost local retail activity during the post-holiday sales slump. He said staff project the campaign to run until mid- to late‑May, depending on user behavior.
Duque said program details and participating merchants are posted at southlakeopenrewards.com and staff are coordinating with platform partner Blue Dot on outreach materials for merchants and users.
Council expressed general support and thanked staff for the presentation.
